Use the first menu to switch to a state legislature: state scores are computed by this site from Open States roll calls and are only comparable within one chamber (see methodology).
How to read this
- The score (−1 to +1): a left–right score based on how members actually vote, not what they say. −1 is the most liberal, +1 the most conservative, 0 the middle.
- The strip: each colored tick is one member, placed by their score (blue Democrat, red Republican, purple Independent). Hover a tick to see who it is.
- The party bar: shows how many members of each party are in the current list.
- Party unity %: how often a member votes the same way as most of their own party.
- Votes: how many recorded floor votes (roll calls) they were counted in.
- State legislatures: state scores only compare members within the same chamber. A +0.5 in one state's Senate isn't the same as +0.5 anywhere else.
- Sort and filter: click a column header to sort (click again to flip). Use the menus to pick a legislature, chamber, party or state, or search by name.
